The Week in Developer Tools
To the billions of people using Facebook, their services may look like a single, unified mobile app or website. From inside the company, the view is different. Facebook is built using thousands of services, with functions ranging from balancing internet traffic to transcoding images to providing reliable storage. To more effectively optimize these many services, with the flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing interconnected web of internal services, Facebook developed Spiral.
Snyk released a container vulnerability management solution which empowers developers to fully own the security of their Dockerized application. Read about the new tool in this blog post.
Serverless architectures are attracting attention for their ability to support faster development times alongside their potentially lower operational costs, due to a pay-only-for-the-compute-you-use model. That means that companies implementing serverless do not need as great a visibility into the infrastructure that spins up the compute power.

Sauce Labs announced the formation of its Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program, a new initiative designed to streamline the way enterprises transform their software development processes and integrate continuous testing into their delivery pipelines.
